Prateek is a fourth-year at Harvard College, concentrating in Molecular and Cellular Biology with a secondary in Economics. Although he was born and currently resides in central New Jersey, Prateek has lived in Pennsylvania, North Dakota, Nevada, and Florida. He has participated in Model United Nations since his freshman year of high school, most recently serving as Under-Secretary-General for Committees of HMUN India 2013. Besides his interest in international relations, Prateek is also passionate about science and aspires to pursue a career in medicine that involves global health and health policy. Outside of academics and extracurricular activities, he loves to travel, watch Bollywood movies, and eat Indian food. Prateek is incredibly honored and excited to serve as Secretary-General of HMUN India 2014 and cannot wait to meet you all.
Hilary Higgins is a fourth-year student at Harvard college majoring in government and obtaining a secondary field in economics. Hilary has developed a passion for Model United Nations since she she believes it serves as a great platform for youth to discuss pressing world issues and build their negotiation, problem solving and public speaking skills. Last year, Hilary was the director for the Organization of American states at HMUN India 2013 and she also served as the Under-Secretary for Committees for Harvard National Model United Nations-Latin America 2014. Outside of Model UN, Hilary finds time to dance, daydream about where she can travel next, listen to Colombian music and go home to her beautiful hometown of Miami, Fl. She is so excited to return to Hyderabad and see HMUN India 2014 come to life!
Cyndia is a third year student at Harvard College studying Physics and Mathematics with a secondary in Economics. Born and raised in the sunny state of Arizona, she was an active participant in policy debate until college, where she is currently extensively involved with the Harvard International Relations Council. She is particularly interested in the intersection of science and society, especially with regards to nuclear proliferation and security. When not working with international relations, she spends her free time working in an observational cosmology lab or running. She looks forward to meeting the delegates at HMUN India and making the conference an unforgettable experience for all.
Julie Zhu is a third year student at Harvard College studying economics with a citation in French. Born in Beijing, China, and hailing from Ottawa, Canada, Julie has never lost her sense of culture or pride in both those countries. Julie had never participated in a Model UN conference before her freshman year of college but now competes passionately on Harvard’s Intercollegiate Model UN team. Outside of Model UN, Julie enjoys spending time with friends, hiking, travelling, watching romantic comedies, and trying out new culinary delights. This year will be Julie’s first time attending HMUN India and looks forward to making the experience one that is engaging and fun for all.
Veeral is a third-year at Harvard studying Organismic and Evolutionary Biology and economics. He is originally from New York City and has been has been involved with Model UN for about seven years. He is especially interested in the structures of healthcare systems in both the developing and developed world. Besides Model UN, Veeral is also as a member of the JFK Jr Forum at the Institute of Politics, CityServe, and Access Health. In his free time, Veeral enjoy both watching sports (especially basketball and tennis) and playing them. Veeral is also a huge fan of Bollywood movies.
